Varieties of fritts
We select the composition for the desired surface effect, type of ceramics and firing conditions.
Corrective fritts
Corrective fritts are fritts with a high or low coefficient of thermal expansion, designed to achieve the required values of this parameter in the glazes and engobes in which they are used.
Matte fritts produce fritted matte glazes with diffused light reflection. They are also used in half-baked glazes for the same purpose. They create a silky finish with a muted pattern.
Titanium fritts contain titanium dioxide (TiO₂), which acts as an effective opacifier. Due to the high refractive index of rutile crystals, they provide exceptional opacity and a white coating comparable to zirconium-based counterparts, while offering a number of technological advantages.
